Analyst Makes All-Star Claim On Cavs Guard

The Cleveland Cavaliers have played a somewhat consistent brand of basketball despite playing without some of their best players during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Among those players is Darius Garland.

The All-Star is undoubtedly a key member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, if there is one thing that reduces Garland’s impact on the game, it is his inability to keep his turnovers down.

Despite that obvious flaw in his game, NBA analyst Mack Perry believes that Garland has what it takes to become an NBA All-Star this season, via his official Twitter handle.

“He averaged 3.6 TO per game in his All-Star season. Can be prone to sloppiness like all primary ballhandlers but he’s still very much capable of all-star level play,” NBA analyst Mack Perry said of Darius Garland.

Previously, Garland has managed to receive that honor once during his NBA career.

Although Garland’s numbers aren’t bad by any means this season, he has simply missed too many games to be taken into consideration for the NBA All-Star selection.

As far as Perry’s assessment of Garland is concerned, the NBA analyst pointed out that even during his sole All-Star season, the Cavaliers guard averaged 3.6 turnovers per game, but that didn’t stop him from receiving the honor in 2022.

This season, Garland may have played just 20 games, but he has put up 20.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game for the Cavaliers.

However, once again, Garland is averaging 3.8 turnovers per game, which is a huge concern for the Cavaliers this season.

Speaking of the 2023-24 NBA season, despite Garland’s extended absence due to injuries, the Cavaliers are still the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with an 18-15 record.
