The Cleveland Cavaliers needed a backup point guard.
With that in mind, they made sure to get more than one this offseason.
In addition to trading for Lonzo Ball, they also selected Tyrese Proctor in the 2025 NBA Draft.
As shown by the team, Proctor will wear No. 24 for Cleveland.

Like most second-round picks, Proctor might not be in for a big role right out of the gate, but he can be in the rotation at some point during the season.
He’s a big-time shot-maker from all three levels.
While the Cavs have plenty of shooters, a team can never have enough when it needs high-level offense during a long campaign.
Also, Ball has a long history of injuries, and the same goes for Darius Garland.
The coaching staff doesn’t seem to trust Craig Porter Jr. during long stretches or as a fill-in starter, and reports state that they want to see him put in more work in the gym before giving him more playing time.
As such, Proctor will most likely enter the season last in the pecking order, but the Duke product comes from a strong college program that develops hard-working players.
He may not have former teammate Cooper Flagg’s upside, but Proctor also played a huge part in their Final Four season, and he could be an X-factor for the Cavaliers.
