The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the best teams in the NBA this season.
They looked like a legitimate championship contender, at least during the regular season.
That’s why it was so frustrating to see them lose to the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
Moreover, that’s also why analyst Garrett Bush is frustrated with the reluctance of the fan base and the front office to blow up the roster.
In a two-post rant, he took to X to claim that fans don’t seem to have realistic expectations about the Cavs and only see them as entertainment, which is why they are fine with early playoff exits.
We are terrified of change. We are against trading Allen or Garland. Against idea of playing Tyson or Bates. Won’t admit that Wade & Okoro are liabilities. We don’t have serious expectations for the #Cavs So all they need to do is stay relatively competitive and we are ok with it

We see the #Cavs as good entertainment like a play or concert. Something to pass the time until football season starts. No real expectations. As long as they make the playoffs & win a 1st round series it’s viewed as playing with house money. Mentality is Well Its always next year

It’s hard to argue with that sentiment, all things considered.
The Cavs proved this season that they could be a championship contender, and as such, they should be held to a higher standard.
Making it to the second round of the playoffs shouldn’t be considered good enough.
But breaking up a 64-win roster isn’t common around the league.
Then again, you have to take some chances and swing for the fences now and then.
Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen are very good players, and they’ve done a lot for the team, but perhaps it is time to move on from them.
The Cavs have someone with top-five potential in Evan Mobley, and not doing everything they can to make the most of his prime years should be considered a disservice to him and the organization.
