The Cleveland Cavaliers need to add cost-efficient reinforcements, and the 2025 NBA Draft gives them the perfect opportunity to do so.
They don’t have a first-round pick, so they will have to dig deep to find players who can make an immediate impact.
With that in mind, the Cavs brought in Kansas State forward Coleman Hawkins for a pre-draft workout, according to Rob Murrows of Shot Coverage.

At 6-foot-10, Hawkins can guard multiple positions, and he averaged 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game last season.
In four seasons at Illinois, he was a defensive force and played a pivotal role in leading it to an Elite Eight appearance.
The Cavs have two second-round picks, and Hawkins would make perfect sense as a versatile defensive stopper and a potential two-way contract player.
NBA scouts don’t love players who spent a lot of time in college because they may not have as high an upside as younger players do.
On the flip side, they’re usually intelligent and knowledgeable players who can make an immediate impact, not to mention that most of them have already bulked up and have NBA-ready bodies.
The Cavs don’t need Hawkins to be a star, but he’s the kind of two-way player who could log heavy minutes off the bench as a rookie.
