The Cleveland Cavaliers took the league by storm this year, at least during the regular season.
Replacing J.B. Bickerstaff with Kenny Atkinson proved to be the right move for this organization, and while things didn’t work out in the end, you can’t take anything away from what they accomplished last season.
That’s why it’s not surprising that one of Atkinson’s top assistants is drawing heavy interest in a head coaching position.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn and Cavs assistant Jordan Ott will both move on to the next round of the Phoenix Suns’ head coaching search, and they will even meet with team owner Mat Ishbia.
“Heat assistant Chris Quinn and the Cavaliers’ Jordan Ott are expected to advance to next round of the Phoenix Suns’ search for head coach, per Marc Stein. They’re expected to meet with Suns owner Mat Ishbia,” Jackson posted on X.

This has been a long time coming for Ott, who had previous stops with the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers.
He also worked under Coach Atkinson in Brooklyn, and he was heavily considered for the Charlotte Hornets’ head coaching job last offseason.
With the Hornets eventually going with Charles Lee instead, Ott chose to reunite with his former boss in Cleveland.
Needless to say, losing him would be a big blow to the coaching staff, but the Cavs will have more than enough time to find a suitable replacement.
The Suns have struggled to find any sort of momentum despite their star-studded roster, and with three head coaches in as many seasons, taking the job will be an uphill endeavor for whoever gets the nod.
