We’ve officially reached the midpoint of the 2024-25 NBA season.
As such, it’s safe to say that the Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in basketball.
That might sound like an opinion, but it’s actually a fact, and stats back it up.
As shown by CavsMuse on X, the Cavs rank either No. 1 or near the top in most categories.
Cavs team rankings halfway through the season:

As of now, they’re the best team in terms of offensive rating (121.1) and three-point percentage (39.6%).
They score the second-most points per game (122.1) and have the second-highest field goal percentage (50.0%).
On top of that, they average the third-fewest turnovers per game at just 13.1.
The Cavaliers also have the best record in the league.
Losing just six games at this point in the season puts them in a position to win 70 games, which would put them right near the top with the greatest teams in the history of the NBA.
Of course, we also know that it doesn’t mean a thing without a ring, but that’s a bridge the team will have to cross once they get there.
They’re not a perfect team, and they could benefit from adding another 3-and-D wing who could guard opposing small forwards.
But with how this team plays, it’s safe to assume that they’re already thinking about the playoffs.
As such, staying healthy will be crucial for the Cavs in the second half of the season, even if that means resting their starters and losing some games they could’ve won.
They have to think about the long run.
