Followers of the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to get their first taste of the duo of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland last season.
When Mitchell joined the team, people were very curious about how well he would work alongside the young Garland.
After just a few months, it was very clear: these two were a match made in heaven.
John Michael and Serena Winters discussed this blossoming partnership for Bally Sports Cleveland and they said that these two are ready to mature even more.
They said that the Mitchell-Garland combination will be “one to watch” in the new season.
Now with a full year of experience together, the DG/Spida backcourt combo will be one to watch this season.#LetEmKnow | #CountdownToCavs | @TheCLE | @CavsJMike | @SerenaWinters pic.twitter.com/2lP3iX3RU8

It’s hard to argue with that assesment.
Powered by the combination of these two, the Cavaliers had one of their best seasons in years.
They ended up as the fourth seed in the East with a strong 51-31 record.
And both players were lighting up the scoreboard night after night.
Mitchell averaged 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 2022-23, while Garland was good for 21.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.
There are sometimes growing pains when new players enter a team.
It’s not always easy to adjust when superstar talent is added to a roster.
But Mitchell and Garland quickly found their rhythm together.
Unfortunately, the postseason didn’t end as they had hoped and they couldn’t fight past the first round.
Their ability to have a strong playoff run will be the ultimate indicator of success in 2023-24.
Everyone knows these two work well together, but can they have a terrific regular season as well as a great postseason too?
