Fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers are paying very close attention to every move and statement made by Donovan Mitchell.
That is because he may elect to leave the team this summer, despite the great season they have had.
Speaking to ESPN Cleveland, Brian Windhorst laid it out plainly.
He said that the only thing that matters is if Mitchell signs an extension with the team.
Everything else is just talk and speculation.
“I don’t care what Donovan says between now and then, I don’t care what he mumbles in the locker room, I don’t care what he puts on social media, the only thing that matters is does he sign the extension or not,” Windhorst said.

Windhorst said that the Cavaliers are willing to give Mitchell just about anything he wants in order to keep him linked to the team.
He can work out his preference when it comes to the number of years in the contract or if there’s a player option or not.
He will be catered to with this new deal but that doesn’t mean that he is going to take it.
He will have many other options from multiple big-market teams this summer, including perhaps the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.
They too could also offer him big numbers and a spotlight that he hasn’t received in Utah and Cleveland.
Windhorst reminded Cavaliers fans that if Mitchell does in fact depart the team, they would be in a lot of trouble and their future would be completely thrown into the air.
This is a decision that would greatly impact everything about the Cavaliers.
The future for Mitchell isn’t clear right now but it’s undeniable that his choice will have huge ramifications for him and Cleveland.
