Emoni Bates just got to experience his first All-Star Weekend and it was everything he hoped it would be.
The Cleveland Cavaliers rookie not only got to participate in the NBA Rising Stars Game last Friday, but he also got to meet his idol.
Speaking to Spencer Davies and the media, Bates mentioned that he was able to have a conversation with NBA legend Allen Iverson, someone he has respected all of his life.
Bates said that he always liked Iverson because of the ways that he overcame adversity and remained himself through it all.

Bates has definitely had a bit of adversity so far this season.
After a strong showing in the Summer League, some people thought he could be one of the breakout rookies of the year.
Instead, Bates has failed to really take off with the Cavaliers as people had hoped.
He has put up just 1.8 points and 1 rebound during his 10 games with the Cavaliers.
However, he has had a very productive season with the G League instead.
Playing for the Cleveland Charge, Bates has averaged 21.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists with 39% three-point line.
He has had three 30-point games during this time, including a season-high 38 points last month.
The Rising Stars Game is a chance for up-and-coming players to leave their mark and draw a lot of attention.
Now that All-Star Weekend is behind him, Bates is hoping he can make his way back to the Cavaliers very soon.
No matter what happens, this season has been full of some life-changing moments for the young player.
