Playing in the NBA has been a lifelong dream for most basketball players around the globe.
One would assume getting drafted into the NBA would fulfill the aforementioned dream, but that’s far from the case.
A perfect example of this is the Cleveland Cavaliers using the 49th overall pick to acquire Emoni Bates in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Although Bates is technically an NBA player, he has spent most of his rookie year with the Cleveland Charge in the G League.
Instead of being upset about being assigned to the G League, Emoni Bates is using it to improve his skills in hopes of earning a permanent roster spot with the Cavaliers.
In the process of doing so, Emoni Bates showcased his phenomenal scoring ability during the Charge’s recent win over Capital City, as revealed via NBA G League on Twitter.

Apart from dropping 32 points, Bates also recorded 7 rebounds and 3 assists for the Charge against the Capital City.
Bates’ sensational stat line led to fans urging the Cavaliers to give him another opportunity to play in the NBA.
So far, Bates has played just 10 games for the Cavaliers, where he has averaged a measly 1.8 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game for the team.
Considering Bates has been dominating the NBA G League, it could finally be the time for the Cavaliers to welcome him back to the team amid their poor form.
The Cavaliers have lost back-to-back games post the NBA All-Star break and can use a breath of fresh air in Emoni Bates.
