Emoni Bates made the Cleveland Cavaliers proud on Friday night, even though he wasn’t playing with them.
Bates impressed during his G League debut with the Cleveland Charge, scoring 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 three-pointers.
Following such an assertive showing, Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell complimented the rookie on Twitter, reposting a highlight reel from Bates’ game while commenting, “Sheesh!!!”

Bates was looking like the star who came on the scene in a big way during the Summer League.
He was all over the court for the Charge and was easily their best player.
Bates helped them score a 116-109 win over the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks affiliate team.
Bates gained a lot of attention during the offseason despite initially going unnoticed by many.
He played wonderfully in the summer and helped the Cavaliers win the Summer League championship.
Since then, Bates has only played two regular season games so far, going scoreless during his first appearance and then racking up 9 points and 6 rebounds in his second.
Since he signed a two-way contract with the Cavaliers, he will likely bounce between their G League team and the regular squad throughout the season.
After such an explosive performance on Friday night, it’s very likely that Bates will return to the Cavaliers’ roster soon.
His time in the G League is actually a very good thing because it will allow him to develop his skills and become even more comfortable.
This could lead to him earning many more appearances with the Cavaliers during the rest of the season.
