In the world of basketball, finishing is a very important skill.
“Finishing” is essentially when a player goes to the basket and makes some sort of shot, whether it be a layup, jumper, floater, or more.
Having a strong ability to finish obviously helps a team with its offensive plans and it is vital that all players, including guards, commit to finishing.
According to BBall Index, the five guards in the league with the best finishing talents are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons, De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings, LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets, and finally Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

BBall Index notes that their statistics take into account shot making, quality, and creation too.
It’s not too surprising to see Mitchell included on this list, as he’s been having a wonderfully strong season.
He has averaged 27.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.
Once again, his field goal percentage remains above 40% and this year he is sinking 45.3% of his shots.
Mitchell is definitely one of the most talented guards in the league and has repeatedly shown that the Cavaliers made the right choice when they signed him a couple of summers ago.
However, the rumors about him leaving the team are constantly floating around and there is a lot of speculation that he could be departing from Cleveland in the months ahead.
If Mitchell does exit, it would give Darius Garland an opportunity to lead the team even more and perhaps make this list as well.
There is no doubt that the Cavaliers will try very hard to hold on to Mitchell, especially because of his phenomenal finishing skills.
