The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to dominate.
Their win over the Chicago Bulls, while narrow and hard-fought, still counted.
Now, they’ve joined a very exclusive club of NBA teams.
As pointed out by Cavs Notes on X, they’re just the eighth team in NBA history to start a season with a 12-0 record.
Moreover, they have one of the longest winning streaks to start a season in NBA history.
With tonight’s 119-113 win in Chicago, the @cavs are now the 8th team in @NBA history to start 12-0.
Longest Win Streaks To Start Season in @NBAHistory:
24 – GSW 15-16
15 – HOU 93-94
15 – WSC 48-49
14 – DAL 02-03
14 – BOS 57-58
12 – CHI 96-97
12 – SEA 82-83
12 – CLE 24-24— Cavs Notes (@CavsNotes) November 12, 2024
They’re tied with the 1996-97 Chicago Bulls and 1982-83 Seattle Supersonics.
They’re also two wins away from the 1957-58 Boston Celtics and 2002-03 Dallas Mavericks, three behind the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and the 1993-94 Houston Rockets.
Notably, they need 12 more wins to tie the legendary 2015-16 Golden State Warriors, who won 24 games in a row.
Of course, the Cavaliers likely aren’t going 82-0.
If anything, their chances of coming close to that record by the Warriors are slim, as there’s a reason why no other team has gotten more than 15 wins.
Then again, if someone’s going to do it, it might as well be this team.
The Cavaliers are oozing with confidence.
Even when they’re trailing, they know they can rally, and no deficit is big enough to keep them out of any game.
This is a special group of players, and while it took them longer than expected, the front office’s vision seems to finally be paying off.
Props to the decision-makers for sticking to their plan instead of breaking the roster up like some fans and analysts urged them to do.
