The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently cooking up their plans for their series against the Indiana Pacers.
The Pacers are going to push the Cavaliers in multiple ways because they have several stars who will be able to create massive headaches for Kenny Atkinson and his coaching staff.
Speaking on the Wine and Gold Talk podcast, Jimmy Watkins talked about one Cleveland player who will be someone to watch in the games against Indiana.
“Dean Wade is a fascinating flashpoint in this series for me because again, he’s perfect for guarding Pascal Siakam. Dean Wade making shots has never been more important to this point than it will be in this series,” Watkins said
For the 2024-25 season, Wade averaged 5.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game on 41.3 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from the three-point line.
Fans didn’t see a lot of him in the series against the Miami Heat, but he could get more time on the floor against Indiana, especially because he is a great fit for guarding and blocking Pascal Siakam.
Siakam can be a big problem for Cleveland, so they are trying to find ways to limit him as much as possible.
It won’t be only up to Wade, because multiple players from Cleveland will surely be tasked with slowing him down.
This will be an interesting matchup for the Cavaliers, and there could be many challenges thrown their way.
It’s moments like this when fans are happy that the team has such a deep roster.
Atkinson can pull from his bench and can give extra minutes to a plethora of players who could have a breakout game on any given night.
The depth of the team will come in handy against such a formidable opponent.
