This season could be make-or-break for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a very big way.
If things go really well and they build upon their success from last season, they could fight hard to the Finals.
And if they don’t, the team could undergo some huge changes.
There is a lot of speculation about Donovan Mitchell’s future with the team: will he sign an extension and stay for several more years, or will he decide to move on in the near future?
According to Bill Simmons, via Ben Axelrod and NBACentral, Mitchell will eventually leave the team and that fact is the “worst kept secret in the NBA.”

That is one of the biggest fears that Cavaliers fans have right now.
Even with the good start last season, nothing is promised and there is a legitimate chance that Mitchell could move to another team.
It’s safe to say that he will at least ride it out with the Cavaliers through 2023–24.
However, he could make a tough choice when the summer rolls around.
Mitchell and the team’s front office weren’t able to come to terms on a new contract extension during this offseason.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that he doesn’t want to remain in Cleveland.
He could be holding out on signing a new deal because it’s a smart financial move.
But there are also growing worries that Mitchell isn’t as happy with the Cavaliers as he had hoped.
The team definitely had a strong regular season last year, but they didn’t work well during the playoffs.
Some pretty big problems within the team’s lineup were exposed then.
In the new season, they will try to fix those issues, get better, and have a great season from opening night through the postseason.
But through it all, questions about Mitchell will remain.
