There has recently been a lot of speculation about the future between Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As everyone knows, Mitchell has yet to sign a contract extension with the team, leading some to believe that he isn’t committed.
But a picture that Mitchell himself drew back in 2006 shows that he’s always been a lover of the team.
Across The Cavs shared an image from Mitchell of a childhood drawing he produced.
In it, Mitchell wrote the names of both the Cavaliers and the Indiana Pacers.
Truthfully, it’s somewhat hard to make out what the drawing tried to represent, but it’s clear that Mitchell’s future team was involved.
“Foreshadowing is crazy,” Mitchell said in a caption.

This was years before Mitchell was in the NBA and even more years before he was a leader of the Cavaliers.
At the time he made this drawing, the team was one of the biggest in the league.
LeBron James was front-and-center and at the end of the 2006-07 season, they went all the way to the NBA Finals, losing to the San Antonio Spurs.
James was the biggest name in the NBA at the time and surely a major influence on a young Mitchell who was just ten years old.
All these years later, he is now the one leading the team.
Will he be leading it for much longer?
A lot depends on the season ahead.
If the Cavaliers are able to have another strong regular season and a good postseason too, Mitchell will have every reason to come back.
But if the team isn’t able to build upon last year or backslides a bit, he might try his hand with a different franchise.
There will be many eyes on every single move he makes in 2023-24.
