The Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back to close out the regular season on a high note.
The past couple of weeks showed some worrisome tendencies, and it seemed like they were deflating when it mattered most.
Notably, that’s why Evan Mobley decided to take matters into his own hands and stepped up to make sure the team stayed afloat.
According to a report by Evan Dammarell, his strong play even earned him consideration for the title of Defensive Player of the Month in the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately, as the Cavs’ insider also stated, the honor instead went to Atlanta Hawks’ G Dyson Daniels.

Even so, Mobley is aiming for the bigger prize.
He’s currently the odds-on favorite to be named Defensive Player of the Year, and, barring a shocking turn of events, he’s going to run away with the distinction.
Mobley is one of the few players who can guard one through five right now, and while his raw numbers might not pop out as much, his ability to disrupt everything that goes on around the rim is top-notch.
The Cavs have had a top-ten defense all year long, and while the entire team has put in some strong efforts on that end of the court, everything has revolved around the USC product.
At the end of the day, Mobley doesn’t need a pat on the back or an individual trophy because he’s here to win an NBA championship, but it’s still nice to see that he will finally get some recognition for his defensive prowess.
