Ty Jerome missed Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a knee injury, marking the third consecutive game he has missed.
Jerome hasn’t played since Tuesday, when he went 9-for-15 for 25 points in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers, and head coach Kenny Atkinson recently cleared the air about Jerome’s status going forward.
According to insider Evan Dammarell, Atkinson doesn’t seem overly concerned about Jerome’s injury, which is now being described as knee tendinitis.
“Despite Ty Jerome’s diagnosis being changed to knee tendinitis, #Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson said that it’s more of a wear and tear injury and doesn’t seem overly concerned.”

Cleveland luckily has the depth to weather the storm and is at the point in the season where its time to really start thinking about the playoffs.
The Cavs are 59-15 and have seen their lead atop the Eastern Conference dwindle to just four games over the Boston Celtics, who have won eight in a row, but with fewer than ten games remaining, Cleveland should have no problem holding on.
Because of that lead, it makes sense to let Jerome take his time, and it’s encouraging that Atkinson doesn’t sound too concerned about the long-term prognosis here.
Jerome is averaging a career-high 12.2 points per game and has far surpassed his previous career high for minutes in a season, so it makes sense that he is experiencing a bit of wear and tear.
Jerome only played two games last season, so upping that to 67 this year was bound to create some minor issues.
Hopefully, Jerome rests up and is back to his usual self for the postseason.
