Even his biggest detractors have to admit that LeBron James is the greatest player in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ history.
He took the team to multiple trips to the NBA Finals during two separate stints.
Now, looking back to his days in his hometown, James is even more impressed by his accomplishments there.
In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the four-time NBA champion took all the credit for his team’s trips to the Finals, and he had some harsh words about his teammates (via Legion Hoops):
“My 7 years there… I had great years… I was able to take them to the Finals. I was able to take a team – you look back at the roster and say what the heck?! I maximized their potential,” he said.

This has been a recurring narrative among James’ fans, and it’s very disrespectful to some of the great players he had by his side throughout the course of the years.
Granted, some of those players weren’t perennial All-Stars, but they played very well when they were with him.
Also, as much as he ‘maximized’ those rosters, he only got the job done when Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love were also healthy.
There’s nothing wrong with giving LeBron his flowers.
He’s one of the greatest athletes in the history of sports.
But this is still a team sport, and no one can win on his own; he should’ve known that better than most stars.
This Cavs team is on pace to have the best season in franchise history, and they did so by playing as a unit.
