Another game, another win for Kenny Atkinson’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs did it once again on Sunday when they beat the Milwaukee Bucks, bringing their season total to 54-10.
With that victory, Atkinson earned a tremendous honor.
According to Evan Dammarell, Atkinson has now set a franchise record for the most wins in a coach’s first season with the team.
This is one of the many reasons why a lot of people believe Atkinson is the frontrunner for this season’s Coach of the Year award.

Atkinson has done some enormous things for the Cavaliers during his first season leading them.
They were good last season and accumulated a 48-34 record but it was clear they were lacking something.
When the summer came, a lot of fans were pleading with the front office to make roster changes and give the team a better chance.
They decided to not do that and instead hired Atkinson as the new coach.
Using basically the same roster, Atkinson figured things out and put the squad on the right path and they have been dominant all season long.
Atkinson has definitely left his mark and is certainly in the running for Coach of the Year, but the competition for that prize is tough.
Ironically, JB Bickerstaff, who led the Cavaliers last season, is also in the mix for Coach of the Year now that he’s with the Detroit Pistons.
No matter what happens with that trophy, it is obvious that Atkinson is a wildly important part of this team and they are happy to have him.
The front office’s choice to hire him may be their smartest move in years.
