The Cleveland Cavaliers have won all kinds of games this season.
They’ve blown their opponents out, gotten close wins, and rallied from a big deficit; they’ve done it all.
Not all games will be their best game, and they were due for a bad outing after 12 consecutive wins.
Fortunately, they managed to take care of business despite not being at their best.
Even so, when asked about the team’s one-point win over the Charlotte Hornets, Donovan Mitchell took the blame for putting the team in that position to begin with (via Dilly Bar 2145):
“I’m more p***** at myself, more than anything else,” he said. “Just d***** shots. Missing free throws. Defensive mishaps. Not pressuring the ball… it starts with me… I’m just upset because I allowed that to carry on throughout the night and that can’t happen.”
Donovan Mitchell Postgame After Win vs Hornets:
“[1:04] I’m more pissed at myself, more than anything else. [1:18, De’Andre Hunter] He’s a bright spot in big moments. Gotta give credit to Evan Mobley too, sidestep 3…. it’s great to know we can have a night like that and still… pic.twitter.com/6lcZ6lIuoo

Mitchell didn’t have a good night from the floor, going 0-of-6 from beyond the arc and finishing the game with 24 points on 19 shots.
Nevertheless, even though he was admittedly going through the motions, and the team had to close out on a high note to get the job done, all wins count the same.
It doesn’t matter if you beat a team by 50 or by 1, and wins against contending teams don’t count more than wins against bottom-feeders.
This is the NBA, and anybody can beat anybody in this league.
The important thing about these games is looking back at them during pressuring situations and realizing that the team is strong, united, and talented enough to rally together.
They just need to learn from their mistakes and make sure to bring their best energy to every game.
Still, expecting them to win every single game is just not realistic, not even for a historically good team like this one.
