This has been a dream season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, at least so far.
After being a playoff team the previous two years, they have the NBA’s best record and the league’s longest active winning streak, and they lead the NBA in points per game and offensive rating.
As the season has gone on, a growing number of people have felt they’re legitimate championship contenders, and now, some are picking them to reach the 2025 NBA Finals and perhaps win it all.
In the meantime, the Cavs reportedly have filed a trademark for an interesting phrase.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers have filed a trademark for: ‘CAVALANCHE.’ The filing, made yesterday with the (United States Patent and Trademark Office), came on the same day that the team clinched a playoff berth,” attorney Josh Gerben wrote on X.

Cleveland has been outstanding in crunch time and has done very well in close games, which is one quality all championship teams have.
Twice this season, they overcame fourth-quarter deficits to defeat the defending champion Boston Celtics, and they had an impressive win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson has done an admirable job of taking them from being a middling offensive team to perhaps the best in basketball on that end of the floor.
But Cleveland has remained a strong defensive team, as it ranks seventh in defensive rating.
Donovan Mitchell has been carrying a lesser load this season, which should free him up to put forth some of his trademark big games and big fourth quarters come playoff time.
