The Cleveland Cavaliers keep making a statement.
They took down the Orlando Magic, one of their postseason foes from last season, and beat them by 40 points.
Notably, this was one of the most lopsided and emphatic wins in franchise history.
As pointed out by Cavs Notes on X, it was tied for the largest margin of victory in a road game in Cavs history.
The other time it happened was a 133-93 route at Charlotte back in 1988.
On top of that, it was the second time this season that Kenny Atkinson’s team had won a game by 40 points or more, as they also beat the Dallas Mavericks in February by 43 points.
If that wasn’t enough, it was also the 15th win by at least 20 points in the season, a new franchise record.
Tonight was also Cleveland's 15th win by 20+ PTS, a new franchise single season record.
The previous team mark was 14 wins by 20+ PTS, done 3 different times (1988-89, 2008-09 and 2015-16). https://t.co/bMTQALda4V

The previous record was held by the 1998-89, 2008-09, and 2015-16 teams, which won 14 games by at least 20 points.
The 2008-09 team almost made it to the NBA Finals, and the 2015-16 team wound up winning a championship, so this is most definitely a great sign.
The Cavs are almost 40 games above .500, and they continue to hold onto the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and the best record in the entire league.
Of course, it will all be meaningless unless they also take care of business in the playoffs, but they’re sending the right message right now.
Hopefully, they will keep the momentum going in their matchup with the Boston Celtics, as going 2-2 vs. the defending champions would be quite encouraging ahead of a potential playoff series.
