The 46-10 Cleveland Cavaliers have a solid 6-game lead atop the Eastern Conference and are looking to prove that their first half wasn’t just a fluke and that they are to be taken seriously as NBA Championship contenders.
The Cavs have come out looking refreshed after the All-Star Break and extended their winning streak to six games after emphatic wins over the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks, and one analyst believes this roster is thriving because it is now set for both the present and the future.
During an appearance on 92.3 The Fan, analyst Spencer German said, “This roster now is at a point now where it is set, pretty much, moving forward for the next several years…(Koby Altman) has done everything to this point to put this roster in a perfect place to be successful. It has been awesome.”

German added that the only “lever left to pull” is to break up the Core Four after a potential loss to the Boston Celtics in the playoffs, though that doesn’t seem like something the front office or the fanbase would get on board with.
The Core Four, of course, refers to Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, all of whom are already signed long-term, as is newcomer De’Andre Hunter who was acquired at the trade deadline from the Atlanta Hawks.
This roster is undoubtedly set from a contractual standpoint, and the only thing left to do now is to go win a title.
The team has come a long way from the days when it seemed like everyone was clamoring for one of Mitchell or Garland to be traded and for one of Allen or Mobley to be traded, but the Cavs have stuck it out and found a way to make it all work.
