Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers has been playing his heart out all season long.
His hard work has paid off and the Cavaliers remain the best team in their conference and Mitchell is having a fantastic season.
In fact, the NBA pointed out that Mitchell has averaged 26.5 points per game over his Cavaliers career so far, which is the second-highest points per game average in franchise history.
Mitchell is now behind only LeBron James, who averaged 27.2 points per game during his time in Cleveland.
Being second behind only James is always a big deal and it once again proves just how important Mitchell is to this team.

Mitchell has looked like an MVP this season, averaging 23.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 45.4 percent from the field.
Those are great numbers, but it’s Mitchell’s leadership that has been receiving just as much praise.
Like James before him, Mitchell has grown quite comfortable as the team’s leader and primary playmaker.
He has built a very strong chemistry with his fellow Cavs stars and is turned to often for his guidance and expertise.
Mitchell is playing with a level of confidence and steadfast energy that fans have wanted since he came to the Cavaliers.
A lot has changed for this team since last year, although the roster looks very similar.
Yes, there is now De’Andre Hunter in the mix and they have a new head coach, Kenny Atkinson.
But it’s been the development and growth of the existing players that has made success possible.
Mitchell is scoring really well but he’s leading better than ever too.
For a number of reasons, Mitchell remains Cleveland’s brightest star.
