The Cleveland Cavaliers were fresh off a tough loss.
The Boston Celtics got the best of them at home.
To add insult to injury, they would have to hit the road without Donovan Mitchell, who was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
That’s why the table was set for Darius Garland to be the man in charge.
Garland rose to the occasion by scoring 25 points on 8-of-18 from the floor, including the biggest and best shot of his career.
With the clock winding down, the former first-round pick took the ball up the court and pulled up for a deep three-pointer.
The Cavs returned home with a 118-115 victory, leaving the fan base and even his teammates in awe.
Following the triumph, fellow All-Star Evan Mobley raved about the shot:
“That was one of the best game winners I’ve seen,” Mobley said.
Garland had been under heavy fire a couple of weeks ago.
Despite being a 90% free-throw shooter, he missed free throws against the Houston Rockets, all but costing the team a win.
Some fans claimed that he didn’t have the clutch gene, so it was nice to see him bounce back and silence the critics with such a massive shot.
The Cavs are inching closer to the All-Star break and have already eclipsed the 40-win plateau for the season.
Then again, of all the games they’ve won this season, chances are Garland will always choose this moment over any other, at least until he does the same in the playoffs or the NBA Finals.
