The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA right now.
You don’t see those kinds of teams making many moves – if any – very often.
That’s why it wasn’t surprising to see coach Kenny Atkinson remain quiet about the team’s plans for the trade deadline.
As pointed out by Evan Dammarell on X, the Cavs’ coach claimed that they have a ‘pretty good team’ right now, adding that GM Koby Altman will be in charge of making those decisions.
#Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson didn’t necessarily say if the team would be active at the trade deadline and said it would be more on Koby Altman.
However, Atkinson did stress that Cleveland has a “pretty good team” right now.

The Cavaliers are just above the luxury tax threshold, so some around the league speculate that they will look to shed some salary off their books.
The front office has shut down those rumors, stating that they intend to pay the tax to ensure the team’s continued competitiveness.
The financial constraints and penalties are too great to overlook, and with several veterans in the final year of their contracts, it’s easy to argue that they are on their way out.
Likewise, the Cavs don’t have that many assets to trade, so it’s highly unlikely they will add more talent before the February trade deadline.
At the end of the day, the team shouldn’t look to fix what isn’t broken.
Any move, whether minor or major, could have a huge ripple effect on the team’s chemistry and locker room.
This team isn’t perfect, but given their performance this season, there’s no need to make any major trades.
