After being humbled by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers got a 124-117 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, and on Monday, they hosted the struggling but star-studded Phoenix Suns.
It was their first meeting this season with the Suns, who swept them in the 2023-24 season series.
This time. Cleveland outclassed the Suns rather easily and claimed a 118-92 win in order to improve to an NBA-best 36-6 record, even though starting power forward and emerging star Evan Mobley didn’t play.
Donovan Mitchell led the way with 33 points, and Cavs fans on social media seemed pleased with this victory.

The Cavs’ bench was a key factor in this win, and Jaylon Tyson, a rookie shooting guard who has been a non-factor this season, hit three of his four shot attempts and finished with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 15 minutes.
Holy Jaylon Tyson tn

When the Suns traded for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in 2023, they were expected by many to become instant championship contenders, but they got swept in the first round of last season’s playoffs.
They now have a 21-21 record and are hanging by a thread to 10th place in the Western Conference after the 11th-place Golden State Warriors lost by 40 points to the Boston Celtics.
Blowout wins such as this one over Phoenix by the Cavs are starting to become ho-hum for the Cavs, but of course, the real measure of whether this season will be considered a success for them will be how they do in May and, they hope, June.
