The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the league.
They’re currently on pace to win 70+ games, and while it will be difficult, they could still tie or break the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors’ record.
Nonetheless, as nice as that sounds, this team isn’t thinking about that.
At least, that’s how Georges Niang feels.
Talking to Ken Carman and Anthony Lima on 92.3 The Fan, the veteran forward made it loud and clear that they’re thinking about the playoffs and the playoffs only:
“Winning in the regular season is awesome, but I think for most of us, we’re focused on trying to figure out ways that we can grow…because in Cleveland, the postseason matters,” he said.

That’s the kind of mindset you want from your team.
Granted, not many people thought the Cavaliers were a championship-caliber team before the start of the season, and most people agreed that their ceiling may have been a second-round exit.
The plan and the narrative have changed since.
This team is winning at an incredible and almost unprecedented pace, and they’re going through the best season in franchise history.
Not even the LeBron James-led teams were able to do what this team has done this season, and that’s a lot to say.
None of that will mean a thing unless they cap this season off with a ring.
This team and the fans got used to pursuing NBA championships during the LeBron James era.
While it seemed like it would be a long time before the fans saw the team pursuing the biggest prize in the league, this team has proven that they could make some big noise in May and June.
