The 33-4 Cleveland Cavaliers are rampaging through the NBA and are currently riding a 12-game winning streak, their second of the season following the team’s 15-0 start.
Few saw this type of dominance coming after the team’s unexceptional playoff runs over the last couple of years, but one analyst has a theory as to why the team might have the best record in the NBA so far.
92.3 The Fan’s Ken Carman shared on X that the biggest reason behind the Cavaliers’ dominant first half of the season is because “Darius Garland grew up, and it may be the biggest reason the Cavs are the best team in the NBA.”

Garland is having the best year of his career and is posting career-best numbers in field-goal percentage, three-point percentage, free-throw percentage, and turnover rate.
He is well on his way to making his second All-Star game, and he may have the distinction of bringing three teammates along with him.
Donovan Mitchell is certainly a lock to make the team, but Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley both have legitimate cases to make it.
The last team to have four All-Stars in one year was the 2017 and 2018 Golden State Warriors, who sent Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson two years in a row before winning the NBA championship both times.
No team has ever had five All-Stars, so the Cavs have a chance to tie the record.
It’s great to see Garland doing so well after a couple of years that left fans questioning whether he and Mitchell could co-exist in the same backcourt.
