The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the NBA right now.
As such, it only makes sense that they have several representatives in the All-Star Game.
Nevertheless, the All-Star Game has always been a popularity contest, and as good a player as the Cavs have, they’re not the most popular team in the league.
That’s why, following their big win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Darius Garland admitted his desire to be selected for the big game again, adding that four of them should be All-Stars this season (via Chris Fedor and Legion Hoops):
“I’m trying to be humble as possible. But… yeah, I should be an All-Star. Yes. There should be four of us on this team that are All-Stars,” he said.

Of course, he’s most likely talking about Jarrett Allen, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and himself.
That should be the case, as the core four has led the team to a league-best 32-4 record.
On paper, just looking at their numbers, they don’t have the most impressive stats in the league.
Garland is averaging just 20.4 points per game, but he’s flirting with 50/40/90 shooting splits and almost seven assists per game.
He’s been one of the best playmakers in the game, and his improved court vision has been a strong catalyst behind this team’s success.
Also, it’s worth noting that he’s scoring 20 points per game because the team hasn’t needed him to do much more.
The Cavaliers are blowing up their opposition, with everybody doing their part and chipping in.
Hopefully, the fans and the coaches will give credit where it’s due, and not only Garland but the entire core four of the Cavaliers will get the nod for the big game.
