The Cleveland Cavaliers keep rolling.
Kenny Atkinson’s team is on pace to win 72 games this season, which would be tied for the second-highest mark in NBA history.
More than that, this is currently one of the greatest stretches in franchise history.
As pointed out by Cavs Notes on social media, this is just the second time in franchise history that the Cavaliers have won nine or more consecutive games by at least ten points.
They won nine straight from 11/22/08 to 12/09/08.
Now, they’ve done so again from 12/13/24 to 1/3/25.
This is just the 2nd time in @cavs history that they have won 9 or more consecutive games, all by 10+ points:
9 straight from 11/22/08 – 12/09/08
9 straight from 12/13/24 – 1/3/25* https://t.co/xIyIlClfj4— Cavs Notes (@CavsNotes) January 4, 2025
Back then, that team had LeBron James leading the way.
Now, they don’t have a player of his caliber, but they’re playing a better and more efficient brand of basketball.
The Cavaliers have now become the first team to reach the 30-win mark in the league this season.
They’ve only lost four games, and just three teams have been able to take them down.
Of those four losses, one occurred in a one-possession game at the TD Garden against the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics.
The other occurred in a game where Evan Mobley had to leave early with an injury.
Only the Atlanta Hawks have dominated the Cavaliers this season.
While this has exposed some flaws they must address by the trade deadline, fans should still feel confident about this team.
We’re almost at the season’s midpoint, and Kenny Atkinson’s team continues to prove that it is as good as its record suggests.
