The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently on pace to win as many games as the 1996 Chicago Bulls.
We’re talking about the second-highest win mark in a single season in NBA history.
We’re also talking about one of the single greatest teams of all time.
That’s why it wouldn’t make much sense to shake the roster up.
With that in mind, Cavs insider Chris Fedor dismissed the narrative about the team trading Darius Garland for a small forward to compete with teams like the Boston Celtics.
He took to X to debate with a fan who pitched him that idea, stating that the team needed to prove themselves in the postseason before even considering the possibility of trading one of their core players.
Breaking up the core of a team that is 30-4 and accomplishing things that only some of the greatest teams in NBA history have, before it even has a chance to show what it’s made of in the postseason, is just asinine. So, respectfully, I’m not going to write that story. https://t.co/6DEUPw2vtE

Granted, they’ve already had plenty of opportunities to do so in the postseason multiple times, but not with this style of play.
Moreover, while the team does need to add more size and defense to the wings, they don’t necessarily need to move Garland to address that issue.
On the one hand, even great teams can get better, and you never want to be caught sleeping come the trade deadline.
On the other hand, if it ain’t broken, you don’t need to fix it.
This team’s chemistry is unmatched, and disrupting it at this point in the season might not be the wisest call.
The team should definitely be in the mix to acquire some players, but not at the expense of the core four.
