The Cleveland Cavaliers took care of business on Friday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in a highly-anticipated matchup.
Both teams had momentum coming into this contest, but it was the Cavaliers that ran away with it in the end.
One of the biggest stories to come out of this game was the success of Evan Mobley, who ended the night with 34 points and 10 rebounds.
10 rebounds isn’t a statistical anomaly, it’s something that Mobley’s teammates and coaches have come to expect from him.
However, the 34 points were somewhat out of the ordinary, as he isn’t necessarily known as one of the team’s top scorers.
Mobley’s night started strong, scoring 18 points in the second quarter to help the Cavaliers get out to a necessary lead.
As Cavs Notes pointed out on X, this was the second-most points that Mobley has scored in a single quarter in his career.
The most came against the Charlotte Hornets, which happened to occur on December 7th of 2024, a quarter where he put up 23 points.
.@evanmobley scored 18 of his game-high 20 PTS in the 2Q, marking his 2nd-most points scored in a single period of his @NBA career.
The most points he's scored in a quarter is 23 PTS in the 1Q vs. Charlotte on Dec. 7 this season.#LetEmKnow

If Mobley continues to score like he did in this game, he could be a problem for opposing teams down the stretch.
The Cavaliers’ main scorers over the past few years have been Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, with others sprinkled in, but Mobley is starting to come into his own.
He might be the third superstar this team was craving on their hunt to make it back to the NBA Finals, something they haven’t done since LeBron James skipped town.
