The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA, and it’s not particularly close.
Of course, Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen get most of the credit, and rightfully so.
Kenny Atkinson is finally getting his flowers as well for the outstanding job he’s doing.
Nevertheless, this has been a team effort, including the second unit.
That’s why Cavs beat writer Ethan Sands took offense at the fact that two of the Cavs’ best bench players aren’t even being considered to win Sixth Man of the Year.
In a poll shared by ESPN, Boston Celtics PG Payton Pritchard was the leading candidate to win the award this season, with Caris LeVert and Ty Jerome not even listed.
With that in mind, Sands ripped the list, stating that as much as it’s great that the Cavs are finally getting some national attention, the media continues to ignore some of their key contributors.
Itβs disrespectful that neither Ty Jerome nor Caris LeVert β key contributors to the #NBAβs best record β made this list.
The #Cavs are finally getting national attention, but the players driving their success are still being overlooked. #LetEmKnow https://t.co/iAul6tttKo

LeVert has missed some games, but he’s been great when available, averaging 11.8 points and 4.5 assists per game on 53% from the floor and 45% from deep.
On the other hand, Jerome has a case for being the best bench player in the league this season, averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.1 rebounds on 59/54/87 shooting splits.
Pritchard, while solid with averages of 14.8 points and 2.9 assists, doesn’t play for the team with the best record in the league.
