The Cleveland Cavaliers have found a true blessing with Ty Jerome.
He had a brief stint with the Golden State Warriors as Stephen Curry’s backup, but once the Cavaliers got him, he didn’t seem to be much more than that.
Now, after missing most of his first season with the team because of an injury, he’s been arguably their third or fourth-best player.
That’s why Cleveland analyst Ken Carman believes that he’s not only a lock to win Sixth Man of the Year but also that he would be a starter on 95% of teams.
Yes. In fact he would start for 95% of teams right now. https://t.co/SZBVeRjyY5

Jerome averages 12.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game on almost 60% from the floor and 54% from beyond the arc.
He’s had some big games for the Cavaliers, including a 29-point explosion in a spot-start for Darius Garland.
Jerome should be leading the race to win Sixth Man of the Year.
His impact goes way beyond the numbers.
He hasn’t been a defensive liability, and he’s been great at controlling the offense as their primary ball-handler, even at times with Donovan Mitchell or Garland also on the court.
Then again, as great as he’s been this season, perhaps being a starter for 95% of the teams in the league is a bit of a reach, as he’s not even an All-Star.
Jerome is thriving with the second unit, and Kenny Atkinson will need him to stay in this role to give his starters a breather.
