The Cleveland Cavaliers have been among the best teams in the NBA by most standards.
They’ve played physically on defense and spread the wealth on offense.
With that in mind, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report dug deep into the market to determine the perfect trade target for this team.
He notably believes Jerami Grant would fit like a glove on Kenny Atkinson’s team, as he would give them another lengthy defender who can also knock down shots from all three levels:
“Grant, 30, has averaged at least 19.0 points per game in each of the last four years and hit 40.1 percent of his threes across the last two seasons. He’d add size, shot-creation, and rangy defense to the Cavs’ closing units, nudging them further up the East food chain,” Hughes wrote.
Then again, he also believes Cavs fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about this, as they would most likely have to part ways with players like Darius Garland or Jarrett Allen to get him.
As much as Grant would be a solid fit on paper, he’d need to take some touches away from Evan Mobley.
With him, the Cavs could have a tall lineup, likely lining him up at the three with Max Strus coming off the bench once he gets back to full strength.
Spacing will always be a concern with their twin towers-style approach, but Mobley has found his touch from beyond the arc to this point in the season, an added bonus.
