On Monday morning, it was reported that Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Mitch Kupchack was stepping down to a different position within the Hornets organization.
That means that the team is now looking for a new head of basketball operations and there are quite a few names in the mix.
One of the people in contention for the job is Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Mike Gansey, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Along with Gansey are New Orleans Pelicans GM Trajan Langdon, Brooklyn Nets Assistant General Manager Jeff Peterson, Philadelphia 76ers GM Elton Brand, and others.

Gansey has been with the Cavaliers organization for years now.
He got started in 2017, when he was the general manager of the G-League team, the Canton Charge.
Following that, he was promoted to assistant general manager of the Cavaliers, serving directly under Koby Altman.
Since February 2022, Gansey has been the general manager for the team and has worked closely with Altman, who is the president of basketball operations.
Because of his close relationship with Altman, Gansey has learned a lot about that position and would be able to get to work right away if he were hired by the Hornets.
It would be quite a difficult job for Gansey, or any other person, because the Hornets have a lot of choices ahead of them.
The Hornets are currently the 13th team in the Eastern Conference and have been hoping to get better for several years now.
Many decisions have to be made in the future for Charlotte and Gansey would have a hand in all of them.
Would he leave his position with one of the best teams in the East for a job with one of the worst?
