Donovan Mitchell is now the team leader for the Cleveland Cavaliers and is also considered one of the best players in the NBA.
But long before he was dominating on the basketball court, Mitchell was a talented baseball player.
Speaking to Tidal League, via Hoops on X, Mitchell spoke about his love of baseball and how much he still misses it.
“Every day I’m like, ‘I miss the game,'” Mitchell admitted.
“I was really good at baseball. I was trash at basketball…I was like, ‘I’m gonna keep building,'” Mitchell said.

Baseball has meant a lot to Mitchell all of his life.
His father, Donovan Sr., also played the game and then became director of player relations for the New York Mets.
Therefore, Mitchell spent a lot of time in the MLB during his childhood and fell in love with all sports but especially baseball.
During his stay at Canterbury High School in Connecticut, Mitchell became a star baseball prospect.
Sadly, his time with that sport came to an end during an injury in his sophomore year.
He had to give up on baseball but it was around that time that Mitchell focused more on basketball and started to garner a lot of attention.
Shortly thereafter, he was one of the most exciting high school players in the country.
That would lead to his college career with Louisville and then his entry into the league in 2017.
Since then, Mitchell has dominated with the Utah Jazz and now the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This season, he is averaging 27.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
Even though he has found great success in the NBA, a large part of Mitchell will always miss his time on the baseball field.
