Tristan Thompson is about to make his triumphant return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
After several years away, the veteran big man signed a new deal with the team and wants to earn his place.
He has been practicing with the team lately and it’s apparently become quite physical.
Cavaliers insider Evan Dammarell noted that Thompson had a cut on his hand the other day and asked him if he was okay.
Thompson confirmed that he was fine and explained the cut: “I’m always crashing the glass and they can’t box out so all they can do is scratch me to stop me.”

This comment from Thompson is actually good for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it’s nice to hear that he isn’t hurt because the team will likely need him.
This is especially true because big man Jarrett Allen just suffered an injury that will sideline him for a few weeks.
Secondly, fans are encouraged to know that Thompson is “crashing the glass” a lot because that is playing to his strengths, which could help the team.
Thompson’s production has minimized over the years as he has grown older.
During his last season in the league, he averaged 6 points and 5.1 rebounds.
If he can maintain or improve those numbers, he may be a valuable part of the team’s bench.
Thompson is looking to make a big impact as he comes back to the league and the team.
Perhaps that means he is going to play his heart out.
If he does, the Cavaliers will be very happy that they welcomed him back.
