The last NBA season was a wonderful one for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Actually, the regular season was a wonderful one, and the postseason was dreadfully disappointing once again.
Speaking to ESPN Cleveland, Brian Windhorst talked about the team and spoke of a big concern about it.
“Very good team, questionable whether they can win 16 playoff games or 12 playoff games,” Windhorst said. “That’s really the thing.”
Windhorst went on to say that the Cavaliers will be the odds-on favorites to win the East, but that doesn’t mean a lot.
They are going to have that honor because they finished as the top seed in their conference, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have a ton of competition.
For example, a lot of analysts believe the New York Knicks will also hold very good odds and could give the Cavaliers a run for their money.
There is no doubt that the Cavs can score a lot, and there is also no doubt that they can reach the postseason, unless something terribly unexpected happens.
Instead, the doubt revolves around their playoff work.
Will next season be when they can finally get it together and win enough games to reach the NBA Finals?
Or will they continue to be a strong regular-season team that continually comes up short under the bright lights of the postseason?
Last season was historic and obviously cause for celebration in Cleveland.
But as great as their regular season record was, it didn’t convert into a lot of playoff success for the team.
Until they are able to change that, the Cavaliers will be viewed with suspicious eyes by their fans, who will remain cautiously optimistic at best.
