The Cleveland Cavaliers found a promising player in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Jaylon Tyson showed flashes of great play on both ends of the floor when he was given a chance, but that didn’t happen often.
Now, he thinks that’s about to change.
Tyson recently predicted that he will come off the bench and play a 3-and-D role in his second season.
āI do know that Iām going to make an impact some way, somehow. I can envision my role being that defensive, energy guy, comes in, hitting open shots, playing my game. I feel like I fit in well. I felt like during the season, there were spurts where I did fit in well with the team,” Tyson said, via Hoodi Garland.

That’s precisely what the Cavs need right now.
They didn’t have much money or wiggle room to make big moves in the offseason, so most of their improvement will have to come from the existing roster.
Tyson has the length and athleticism to match up with big wings, and if he can hold his ground on the defensive end of the floor like he proved he could do as a rookie in limited stretches, he’s going to be on the court often.
The Cavs moved on from Isaac Okoro, and that leaves a big void in their rotation, defense-wise, so there should be more minutes up for grabs.
In addition, Tyson is arguably a more complete offensive player than Okoro, and that should also help him get on the floor early and often.
The Cavs are trying to win a championship, and while they will only get as far as their stars take them, everybody will have to do their part.
