The Cleveland Cavaliers might not be a big-market team.
Joakim Noah and Sophie Cunningham have made their feelings about the city quite clear.
Nevertheless, the Cavs have built a winning tradition over recent years, even after LeBron James left.
That was on full display last season.
Kenny Atkinson’s team led the Eastern Conference from start to finish, and while the end of the season was disappointing, this team proved to be on the right track.
That’s why Lonzo Ball is so excited about joining the team.
When asked his thoughts on being traded to the Cavs, the former No. 2 pick gushed about their competitiveness and the possibility of playing winning basketball:
āJust to have the chance to win. We know how good the Cavs are, how good they been in the past, and this year we have a great chance for it all. Thatās all Iām focused on. I couldnāt ask for nothing better than this. I think it’s a great situation for my playstyle. Just looking forward to getting out there and being with the guys,” Ball said of what excites him about the Cavaliers.

To say that Ball has gone through a rough patch over the past couple of years would be a huge understatement.
Some thought he wouldn’t even be able to return to the court after so much time on the shelf with a complicated knee injury.
Then, once he was finally cleared to make his comeback, he was stuck with a bad team.
Ball’s never-ending injury woes have prevented him from having the Hall of Fame-type career some thought he would have.
Even so, that doesn’t mean he can’t play.
He’s still one of the best passers and floor generals in the league, and his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc and guard multiple positions was just what the doctor ordered for a Cavs team in desperate need of physicality, toughness, and veteran leadership.
