There have been rumors about LeBron James leaving the Los Angeles Lakers recently.
This speculation has happened before and never resulted in anything, but could James really leave the Lakers this offseason?
If that’s going to occur, the Lakers will need a suitable trade partner.
Could the Cleveland Cavaliers fit the bill?
According to Kurt Helin, per NBACentral, that’s unlikely because the Cavaliers are not that interested in James.

One can understand why the Cavaliers would pass on James.
Despite what he did for the team and his place in franchise history, James would cost the Cavaliers too much and possibly not deliver a lot.
The team would have to offer a ton in order to make a trade work, essentially decimating their current roster and ruining their depth.
Stars like Darius Garland or Jarrett Allen would definitely be gone, and the Cavs would probably lose more than that, too.
James is 40 years old, and even though he is still playing really well, he doesn’t have many more seasons left in him.
So the Cavaliers would be getting rid of their future in order to have one last ride with James, and that just doesn’t make a lot of sense.
If James really did want to leave the Lakers, Los Angeles would likely find a place to send him, but it wouldn’t be easy.
He’s a legend of the game and one of the best basketball players of all time, but James would not be the sort of hot commodity he used to be.
