The Cleveland Cavaliers may have earned one of the biggest steals of the NBA draft on Thursday night.
Writing for Bleacher Report, Andy Bailey had great things to say about incoming rookie Tyrese Proctor out of Duke.
“Proctor is a real shooting threat. He has both standalone net-shredders and movement buckets in his bag, and that opens up everything else in his game. When he can leverage the threat of his long-range shot, he can make things happen as both a driver and secondary distributor,” Bailey wrote. “Going to the squad that just finished first in the East should afford Proctor some time to improve on his body and other weaknesses. This is another steal, relative to the 31st spot Wasserman had him on his big board.”
Bailey gave this move an “A,” which really shows just how much he believes in what the Cavaliers did.
Proctor’s skill set revolves around his shooting and shot-making.
The Cavaliers already have a few ball handlers and shot-makers, but they are always eager for more.
A team cannot have too many players like Proctor, who is ready to get to work in the Summer League and possibly earn a spot in the rotation next season.
As talented as he is, it might be difficult for Proctor to get a lot of time on the court in 2025-26 because the team is so competitive.
They are hoping to once again claim the top spot in the East, which means they will be calling upon their best players night after night.
However, during blowout games and in the G League, Proctor will show what he is capable of and might make an impact.
There is no doubt that he is in a good position after his productive time at Duke.
