The Cleveland Cavaliers may not have been a major part of this week’s NBA draft, but they did make a roster acquisition.
According to Chris Fedor, the Cavaliers have agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with Chaney Johnson.
Johnson, who comes in at 6-foot-7, was an important part of Auburn’s Final Four team.
What can he do for the Cavaliers, and when will we see him play?

An Exhibit 10 deal means that Johnson has the chance of moving up to a two-way contract if he plays well.
Additionally, if he stays with the Cavaliers’ G League team, the Charge, for at least 60 days, he will earn a bonus of $85,000.
Johnson did a lot for Auburn in 2024-25, averaging 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 56.7 percent from the floor.
He shows promise, but there are concerns about Johnson, too.
Namely, scouts believe he needs to fix his shooting and quickness.
They feel that he is good around the rim and in the interior, but moves too slowly, and his shots don’t always land.
Johnson could get a chance to enhance his skills in the upcoming NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
It’ll be there where Johnson could get some time on the court and may be able to show the Cavaliers that his shooting has developed.
With this Exhibit 10 contract, the Cavaliers have shown they are committed, but not too much.
That means Johnson has the duty to improve his game and show his stuff in the weeks ahead if he wishes to work his way into the NBA.
