The Cleveland Cavaliers should explore all their options and figure out a way to get better for next season.
ESPN insider Shams Charania predicted that this will be the craziest offseason in NBA history, hinting at some major moves and big players finding new homes.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean that the Cavaliers will land any of those big-name players.
In a recent talk with Jonathan Peterlin and Daryl Ruiter, NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that the Cavs hadn’t had any serious talks about potential trading for Kevin Durant (via 92.3 The Fan).
Moreover, even if they wanted to get him, he doesn’t see a clear path for that to happen:
“To my understanding, I have not heard anything solidly confirming that the Cavs either checked in on Kevin Durant or are seriously interested there. Could it make sense? To an extent, maybe, but I just really don’t see a path to where they’re going to look to leverage guys to go out and get a Kevin Durant. The Cavs have come up in conversations that I’ve had, but nothing more than that,” Siegel said.

The Phoenix Suns almost traded Durant to the Golden State Warriors this season.
They’re reportedly looking to move him, as Bradley Beal’s trade value is pretty much non-existent and he has a no-trade clause.
Still, whoever trades for Durant will also need some sort of guarantee that he intends to sign a contract extension.
Otherwise, he would be quite an expensive rental.
Durant is still one of the best players in the league, and he would be a significant upgrade for every single team.
Then again, he’s aging and has a long history of injuries, so it might not be in the Cavs’ best interest to break up their roster to get him for the short run.
Even so, this team should still be in a position to make some moves and add reinforcements, even if they’re not of Durant’s caliber.
