The Cleveland Cavaliers found plenty of success this season, maybe even more than most fans and analysts thought they would.
That might make some people feel like they don’t need to make many – if any – big moves, as not many 64-win teams would even consider shaking things up.
However, watching this team fail in the playoffs over and over and struggle with this core of players has analysts feeling otherwise.
With that in mind, Anthony Lima expressed his concerns about this team’s lack of size and athleticism (via 92.3 The Fan):
“In all the Cavs conversations I hear, I don’t hear people talking enough about the lack of athleticism. The Cavs are shockingly unathletic compared to some of these teams. You’re starting two guards, and Max Strus is your small forward. One through three, of all the good teams, you’re the smallest by far,” Lima said.

That’s a valid concern, and, once again, it stems from the team’s backcourt.
For years, people have questioned whether Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland can successfully coexist.
Clearly, they can, but whether that’s what this team needs to get to the next level might be a whole different story.
Neither Garland nor Mitchell is a good or even willing defender, and it’s hard to hide both of them on that end of the court.
Mitchell isn’t a pure point guard, so he fares better with a pass-first player next to him.
Garland, on the other hand, has been missing in action in big moments for most of his career, and while deferring to Mitchell in the clutch might work in the regular season, Mitchell struggles against physical defense in the playoffs when the referees allow more contact.
This team will be a perennial lock to make the playoffs.
But if they’re striving for more, they will have to consider all their options this offseason.
