Cleveland Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman recently spoke with the press about the successes and failures of his team in 2024-25.
Altman was quite frank during his talk to the media and made it clear that some things need to change next season.
Speaking on “Full Court Cleveland,” Sam Amico discussed Altman’s statements and their impact on him.
“As far as Koby Altman’s press conference, he came out and said we need to be tougher when it means the most. He thinks these experiences will help build that, and I don’t doubt that. How he just talked about Darius Garland needing to get in the weight room a little bit, stuff like that. He didn’t sugarcoat anything, which was a big takeaway for me,” Amico said.

Atlman’s view about his team needing more toughness hit home for most Cavaliers fans, because they feel the same way.
They want the team to look and act much tougher in 2025-26 and beyond.
For much of the regular season, that toughness was there, and the Cavaliers were one of the most feared teams in the East.
They held the top spot from beginning to end, and they went on multiple long winning streaks.
But things changed in the playoffs, and the team felt much more human and susceptible to bad luck and bad choices.
Altman talked about that too, saying that star Darius Garland will have to do more next season, improving his physicality and remaining healthy.
Altman didn’t sugarcoat anything about his team, but he showed faith in his players.
Things might not have ended the way he wanted this year, but Altman still believes great things are possible with this team, exactly as it is constructed right now.
