Is it time for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make a change?
The team has a lot of promise and potential, but they keep coming up short when the stakes are high.
Speaking on his show, Matt Fontana talked about the Cavs’ big core four of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen.
As great as that core is, it keeps coming up with the same results, which has Fontana questioning the whole thing.
“This year, you do take care of business against Miami, and then you get gentleman’s swept by the Indiana Pacers. That’s your three years with this core four, and, ironically, every ending series was 4-1. You can not keep that! You can not keep that,” Fontana said.
After three years with the #Cavs core four, every playoff exit has ended 4-1. #LetEmKnow

He says the team cannot “keep” this core four, but does that mean the Cavaliers will listen to him?
Last season, fans were calling on the front office to make some big changes.
There were suggestions that Mobley, Garland, and others should be traded away.
Instead, the team remained mostly the same, although they got a new head coach with Kenny Atkinson
That seemed to do the trick, at least during the regular season.
But during the playoffs, the Cavaliers came back down to earth and didn’t look as fierce.
Fontana isn’t the only one saying it’s time to put an end to this core four, and there are indeed rumors of the group being split up.
However, there is a good chance the team runs it back with the same crew next year, with a heavier emphasis on how to overcome playoff difficulties.
If they don’t, it’ll surely be the end of the Cavaliers as we see them now.
